About
Our History
Nearly a century of outdoor education, community, and youth enrichment in Harford County.
Founded in 1925
The Harford County 4-H Camp at Deer Creek Overlook was established in July 1925, making it one of Maryland's oldest continuously operating youth camps. From the very first summer, the camp has served as a place where young people connect with nature, build character, and form lasting friendships.

Growth Through Hard Times
Even through the Great Depression and World War II, the camp continued to serve as a refuge and gathering place for the community. Programs expanded to include agricultural education, crafts, and leadership development.

Expanding the Grounds
New facilities were added to the property, including additional dormitories, the main pavilion, and recreational areas. Camp enrollment grew steadily as Harford County's population increased.

Modernization
Infrastructure improvements modernized the camp while preserving its rustic character. The venue rental program expanded, allowing the camp to generate revenue that supports its youth programs.
